So I have just a few pics to show off here... the fruits of my labor as it were... I am planning to do an official photo shoot in the near future to showcase the finer elements of my outfit... until then here is how my Halloween went...

This is me with my friend woodssteam AKA Bill The Butcher and the hat I made for him... My entire outfit is my own.

Goggles... who knows WHY we need 'em... we all KNOW they just make us look good...

As an on-the-run-time-traveller I am finally caught-up-with the great Sherlock Holmes...

Thats the feed, there it is... Professional photo shoot to come...

So woodssteam wants a tall 1840's style top hat like the Daniel Day Lewis character in Gangs of New York. I did this in about three days for him.

A Detail Shot...

...and the requisite beauty shot...

Lemme know what 'yall think and if you see him in this hat on the street this Halloween don't try to shank him like Leonardo Dicaprio please...

Tossing out some pics of the most recently completed addition to my Steampunk-ensemble... My Vest.

Here is the front using the same fabric I used for my spats.

This is a detail view of the admittedly redundant buckles that compliment the double set of silver snaps that keep the front overlap closed.

Here is a back view of the vest showing grommets and the lacing keeping the back closed.

Another detail shot showing the grommets and riveted D-rings (which have no apparent use other than looking cool to me...) on the vest back.

Thanks as usual for the views and I always appreciate feedback and suggestions...

Here is my first attempt at making spats. After many tutorials and much browsing I finally finished mine. These ended up being much harder than I thought as I was fitting them specifically to my combat boots and not to just any pair of shoes.

More examples beneath the cut...

So I have finished a 2nd pair of goggles in a similar layout as the first but a slightly different design. As the first focused on black and silver, the second pair focuses on brown and gold. This pair actually ended up, while much smaller than the first, being much heavier... a quality I attribute to the solid aluminum conduit caps that formed the lens holders.

There are screw holes on the top of each side of the outer ring which I am considering using to add attachments such as magnifiers or other tools... Comments, thoughts, feedback and suggestions as always are greatly appreciated!

I took my daughter to Station Square to board one the the "Just Ducky Tours" on Wednesday and while we were waiting I wandered over to the old train platform and snapped some shots of the massive machinery on exhibit that was left over from the steel industry... enjoy the mechanical gearness...

Kinda makes me want this stuff hanging out in my living room... or at least maybe my yard...

So hear is the issue of Fiend Magazine from Australia that I recently discovered... a great goth outlet for those down under regarding fashion and what not... in issue #18 they did a Steampunk theme and I've taken the liberty of purchasing, scanning and posting just a bit of what they're doing 'down under' as is were...

Follow after the cut for more... hope you all enjoy...

I took my daughter by way of the Duquesne Incline to the top of Mount Washington to watch The City of Pittsburgh's annual 4th of July celebration. As we got off the incline at the top I had to pause for a video of the massive gears that were hauling up and lowering down the cars by way of steel cable. These things were absolutely massive and had always fascinated me. Originally in the 1800's the system was steam-powered. I am looking for info as to when it was converted to using electrical generators. Just amazing!

So I finally got my sewing machine back from repair after two weeks but the damage only amounted to about $45, far less than I was expecting which means I can now continue with my latest dastardly creative endeavor...

I will be trolling for fabrics and hardware round town frequently in the next few weeks to start pulling everything together...
