And SPATS to you to brother!
Here is my first attempt at making spats. After many tutorials and much browsing I finally finished mine. These ended up being much harder than I thought as I was fitting them specifically to my combat boots and not to just any pair of shoes.

More examples beneath the cut...

Here is a side view showing the snaps that enclose the edge, I put a small buckle and leather strap around the top to keep them from sliding down the calf...

Here is the pair laid out flat, showing one closed and the other unclasped. I also put a buckle and strap on the underside to keep them from riding up. I went as far as to put a lining on the inside for added strength. My goal was functionality in addition to fashion.

I purposely used a flash in this shot to show off the texture of the fabric I used for this pair. Its a great pattern of upholstery fabric I found that I intend to use for a matching vest and fingerless gloves or "hand spats"...

Comments, feedback, questions or suggestions are always welcome and appreciated!
